Tonight on Television - A Tribute to a Great Man by the Great Man Himself

I expect many, many, many people to watch the prime time movie on television tonight. It has been played over and over again for the past five years to much great success. It is about a man that says he was born in Hawaii, grew up in poverty, and has set out to make the world and especially America a better place.

However, he has made enemies on his path to transform America into a place where everyone gets an equal piece of the pie that was once the American dream. These enemies say all of the records he has shown of his birth, education, and finances apparently false. They believe that his teen years were spent as a youth that barely escaped being sent to prison. They say that among his careless acts as a youth, and even in recent history, has been to use false identifications and records to obtain a free education, and become elected or appointed to government offices. There are supposed records that do show that both he and his wife became lawyers, but both of them lost their license to practice law due to charges of fraud, and other crimes.

But still, this man rose rapidly through the ranks of the most corrupt political party in America, and is now looked upon as the poster child for government corruption. The only benefit America has received from his services is to be able to watch him play golf, and his wife throw parties on television travel channels such as FOX, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, and other lesser known channels.

However, he has managed to accomplish many great things that the entire Democratic Party has been trying to do for more than 60 years. He has created the great cities of Detroit, Chicago, WDC, Stockton, Riverside, Fresno, and others. He has been able to lead many of our largest energy providers into bankruptcy. He has even been able to bring the entire coal industry into shutdown mode. And, his overseas accomplishments are just as notable. The deaths of an ambassador, and the heroes that tried to protect him. He has been able to supply guns and ammo to drug cartels all over the world. He has supplied military arms, ammo and equipment to Hezbollah, a major international terrorist organization that wants to rid the world of Israel and the (USA) Great Satan. He has been able to bring our military home from the battlefields of Iraq, and the people their obviously love him for leaving them unprotected from terrorists. The same goes for his record in Afghanistan, Syria, Egypt, Libya, and a host of other peaceful countries that love us.

He has many more accomplishments, but I do not have time to list them all. Yes, tonight will be a great night to watch this magnificent specimen of a man of the American Communist Party (aka the Democratic Party) once again tell the sheep that follow him how great he is, how racist his enemies are, and how the minor problems plaguing his healthcare legislation is only a minor setback in his plan to turn America into the ultimate 3rd world country.

Yes, I know where you will be this evening.

I Am Me - Like it or leave it.

I am beginning to believe that God is always talking to me. Maybe "talking" is the wrong word to use. But, it is the best way to describe it. On a number of occasions I have tried to separate my businesses into segments according to particular interest. The only thing I ever accomplish is mental tension and physical exhaustion. And, I have done it again. And, God has told me, once again, to sit down, shut up, and listen to him. Being in the navy (Or was it just part of growing up?) taught me to never give up, and never give in. I still believe in that, but I also believe that you cannot be so danged foolish as to not look for a better way of doing things. My life, my family, my businesses, my politics, my hobbies, and every little thing I do are married to me. They define me. I have always been comfortable with that fact, but I seem to have a tendency to want other people to think that each piece (me, father, profession, political beliefs, personal pleasures) of the puzzle is a different person. But, they are all the same.

So, once again I am putting the puzzle back together. It will be easier for me, but some of those who follow, visit or check in with me sometimes may give up and go away for good. After all, it does go against the business principle of keeping your personal life out of your professional life. But, it is all me. I am merging my personal, photographic, musical, trucking, and travel life into this "1" blog, thus wiping out about 3/4 of the hassles of trying to do something on the internet. I am refocusing my music in the direction I think fits my lifestyle, and moving away from trying to please everyone with my music. My trucking and travel blogs and life will just need to adjust to me, instead of me adjusting to them.

Like it or leave it. I hope you choose to stay with me.

I don't ever call your number.
            B/D
I don't say your name out loud.
                    A/C
And, I don't ask our friends about you.
                  B/D
When I’m hangin' with our crowd.

              E/G
And, it doesn't really matter
      B/D
If I see you on the street.
                  A/C
When you just walk right on by me
       B/D
My heart don't skip a beat.

              A/C
Well, tomorrow you will marry,
           B/D
What once was my best friend.
       A/C
But, I won't even notice
                 B/D                E/G
That my world is at an end.
            E/G
I don't miss the smell of your perfume,
           B/D
As I'm layin' in my bed.
                    A/C
And, I don't miss the touch of your hand,
            B/D
Pulling softly at my head.

             E/G
And, I guess it doesn't matter,
                   B/D
When I'm turning out the light.
            A/C
That I know for me it's gonna be,
     B/D
Another lonely night.

Well, tomorrow you will marry,

What once was my best friend.

That my world is at an end.

'Cause I'll be sittin' in this barroom,
            B/D
And, I guess that you can tell,
          A/C
I'll be out with all of my new friends,
           B/D
And, spending time in Hell.

                    E/G
And, I don't ever call your number.
                 B/D
And, my phone it just don't ring.
                            A/C
'Cause when I'm sittin' in this barroom,

My life don't mean a thing.

‘Cause tomorrow you will marry,

Just a foolish lad chasing after dreams, never worried about the cost.
C                            Em                           F                           G
Running fast and running free, never missed what he had lost.
                  F                                      G                         Em                Am
Chasing shining stars he drove the fastest cars, never giving up the pace.
                  C                                Am                                 F            G         C     G
Running down the road, headed for the gold, a winners smile was on his face.

                     C                              Em                                  F                  G
When he became a man his life began to change the day headed off to war.

He learned to aggravate. He learned to fear and hate. He tasted blood and wanted more.
                           F                                             G                            Em                   Am
He watched his brothers die, and heard their mothers cry, and he held our flag up high.
                  C                                Am                               F            G           C     G
Marching down the road with a heavy load, he never stopped to ask God why.

                   C                                       Em                           F                          G
And, when he came home he was a different man, but he could not tell you why.
C                                       Em                               F                     G
He never danced, and he never smiled, and you never seen him cry.
              F                                 G                                    Em               Am
He was all alone. His love for life was gone, when she came into his life.
                  C                                     Am                          F            G         C     G
And, the light of his life was like a shining star and she soon became his wife.

                 C                                        Em                               F               G
And, the years they passed, and their love did last, and she bore his family.
C                                      Em                                               F                      G
And, the day she died, he sat alone and cried,  beneath a weeping willow tree.

Every day,
I listen to your stories.
Every day,
It’s the same old tale.
Someone else,
Has made you so unhappy.
Someone else,
Has caused your life to fail.

Lesson learned,
My bags are in my truck now.
Lesson learned,
I can’t stay another day.
Lesson learned,
And, it’s time for me to go now.
Lesson learned,
It don’t matter what you say.

I’m so tired of all
The poutin’ and a whinin’
I’m so tired of all
The drama in your life.
Oh, Lord why,
Tell me why I have stayed here?
I don’t know why
I ever took you for my wife.

Lesson learned,
My bags are in my truck now.
Lesson learned,
I can’t stay another day.
Lesson learned,
And, it’s time for me to go now.
Lesson learned,
It don’t matter what you say.

And, now time,
Time it is a wastin’,
I must go,
I must be on my way.
I can’t stand,
To listen to your whining.
I can’t stand,
It here another day.

Lesson learned,
My bags are in my truck now.
Lesson learned,
I can’t stay another day.
Lesson learned,
And, it’s time for me to go now.
Lesson learned,

A Rainy Day

A Rainy Day - Keith Birmingham
Copyright: 02/25/2012

What do I do on a rainy day,
And, when life don't go my way,
When it's cold and I can't go out,
What do I do and think about?

When the rain doesn't stop all day,
I like to go outside anyway.
I like to dance through the pouring rain.
I like to act like I am insane.

When my life seems like it's a mess,
It doesn't matter if I've done my best.
I sing a song or I hum a tune.
I like to howl at a rising moon.

And, when it's cold and I can't go out,
I open windows and I like to shout.
And, my life won't get me down.
If I can find my way downtown.

So, put on a happy face,
Be a star of the human race.
Be someone that you want to be,
And, your smile will set you free.

That's what I do on a rainy day,
And, when life don't go my way,
When it's cold and I can't go out,
That's what I do and I think about?

A Busker's Song

A Busker's Song - Keith Birmingham
01.23.2014

Standing on the sidewalk in the glaring sun,
Tryin' to make a living while I'm having fun.
But, no one seems to listen to the songs I play,
No one seems to notice me in any way.

People can you tell me now, the reason why
You look upon this world in such a dreary way.
And, why you never stop to watch the world go by.
And, why you never listen to the children cry.

And, can you tell me now, why you never seem to smile.
And, can you tell me now, why I never here you sing.
You come into this world in the usual way.
But, you never see the sun, and you never learn to play.
Life is but a journey that we all must take.
The path we choose to take is but the life we lead.
There's nothing but your mind to keep you in the dark.
All it ever takes is just a little spark.

So, sit and listen to me as I play my song.
Even if the key I sing is just all wrong.
Smile and say hello to a stranger on the street.
Sing a song with me, and let it sweep you off your feet.

Standing on the sidewalk in the glaring sun,
Tryin' to make a living while I'm having fun.
But, no one seems to listen to the songs I play,
No one seems to notice me in any way.

Be Flexible With Your Work

**********

Recently my print sales via the internet slowed to a crawl. Had I priced my work to high? Was the work I offered poor in quality? Was it the economy? Am I not shooing enough for self-assingments? Am I promoting my work in the right way? What was going wrong for Bad Habit Photography? I have 2 business that are closely related. I shoot people with my camera, and I play music. And, I spend roughly 6 to 10 hours each day, at least 6 days a week, on photography. I spend another 3 to 6 hours each day on my music. I have considered making a choice by giving up on one of my passions in favor of the other. I cannot do that. It is not in my blood to give up on anything I believe in. I would rather fail at both while still trying.

My curiosity got the best of my. I lowered my prices, and cut my product list to the bone. When I say lowered, I mean I destroyed and buried my profit by slashing into the bones of it. For my product list I cut out everything that was doing my business little or no good. For the market I reach I figured every client I have has a high dollar/high pixel camera, and settles for what they can get on their own equipment. Today I do not see much of a future in "event" photography for my personal use work. Last night I attended an event where 3 out of 4 attendee's were using their cell phones to get what they wanted. Meanwhile, the photo booth at the entrance to the event had no one in line to buy their products. These good people do not need an 8 x 10's of their sons and daughters doing back flips on a gym floor.  All they want is something to post on Facebook so that Grandma can enjoy her grandchildren.

I have spent many, many, many hours trying to come up with an idea of a market that I would enjoy shooting for, and make money with. This field is getting smaller every day. Now, I shoot only what I like to shoot, and hope that someone will come along to make a purchase. All along I have known this is not the way to run a business. The pricing test I recently ran proved this point very well too me. So, I am changing my market place. I still shoot "only what I like" to shoot. Otherwise, I feel I am short-changing my clients. But, I am now shooting as much, or more, for publication and FINE ART GALLERY work. I'm not yet sure my decision is right or final, but I am comfortable with it. It does not change the structure of my business plan that much. It has simply pointed my business to a more specialized market.

Buying Simplified

Buying Simplified:
Bad Habit Photography by Keith Birmingham
No stress. One decision from 2 choice. One price for personal use. Four prices (depends on file size) for commercial use. You get what you want. You get what you pay for. You do with it as you please.

Small World Concierge/Posting Services

I am always looking for ways to add income to enjoy my retirement. Although I have not started this one I have had several friends tell me to do this. So, I am looking into this. If I can be of service to you just give me a call before I actually start as the rates will most likely change to match the economy.
