Dear Mr. Birmingham:

Thank you for contacting me regarding safe parking facilities for commercial truck drivers.

H.R. 2156, known as "Jason's Law", was recently introduced by Representative Paul Tonko (D-NY) and was referred to the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit where it awaits further action.

H.R. 2156 would allocate funds to states and municipalities to establish long-term parking facilities for commercial vehicles, especially in areas with a severe shortage of truck parking capacity. As a Member of the House Highways and Transit Subcommittee, I am dedicated to working with my committee colleagues to ensure safety and efficiency for all travelers on our nation's highways. I am in the process of examining this legislation and will keep your comments in mind as the committee moves forward.

I do take your views into consideration as I decide how to vote in the House. Please feel free to express those views; even if we may occasionally disagree, it is important to me to know your thoughts. Do be aware that because of mail security measures for Congress, your letters can be delayed for up to two weeks.
